3D landscape design & build · Granite Bay, CA

Big lots, planned as one.

Granite Bay lots are big, often with mature oaks, granite outcrops and room for a pool, a kitchen and a lawn. David designs the whole property in 3D first, so every phase fits the plan, then his own crew builds it.

Why Granite Bay is different

What we plan for here.

01

Large lots

A half-acre or more is easy to build piecemeal and end up with a patchwork. A full 3D plan ties the patio, kitchen, paths and planting together, even if you build in phases.

02

Mature oaks

Many Granite Bay yards have protected native oaks. We map each root zone on the plan first and route patios, walls and trenches around them.

03

Granite and slope

Granite outcrops and grade changes can become features: boulder walls, terraced seating and steps, instead of something to fight.

Know before you build

Granite Bay rules.

Granite Bay is unincorporated Placer County, so County rules apply instead of city ones. Checked against official sources.

Native trees & oaks

Placer County's Tree Preservation ordinance (County Code Article 19.50) protects native trees 6 inches or more in diameter, and oaks 5 inches or more. A County tree permit is needed before removing one or doing development work inside its protected zone: the dripline plus one foot. Minor tree permits are requested at least 10 days before work. Parts of the Granite Bay community plan area are also mapped as woodland conservation zones.Source: Placer County Code, Article 19.50 (Tree Preservation)

Near Folsom Lake or a creek

Trees in riparian zones are protected too: generally within 100 feet of a lake or pond shoreline, 100 feet of a year-round stream, and 50 feet of a seasonal one. Lots near the lake or a creek should plan for this early.Source: Placer County Code, Article 19.50

HOA approval

Many Granite Bay neighborhoods have architectural review. DG Landscape Design provides the plan and 3D renders your committee asks for before work starts.

Last checked October 2026. Rules change; confirm with Placer County before you start.

5.0★★★★★ David's Google rating from his past clients

“They rebuilt our deck, added an outdoor kitchen and a trellis, and took care of the plumbing and electrical. It's been two years and everything is still in great shape.”

Questions

Granite Bay FAQ.

Do you work in Granite Bay?

Yes. Granite Bay is one of our main service areas, along with Folsom, El Dorado Hills and Gold River. Site visits and 3D designs are free: call (916) 665-4684.

Do I need a permit to build near an oak in Granite Bay?

Often, yes. Placer County protects native trees 6 inches or larger in diameter, and oaks 5 inches or larger. Building or removing a tree inside a protected tree's root zone usually needs a County tree permit first.

Will you help with my HOA approval?

Yes. Every design comes with a drawn plan and 3D renders, which is what most architectural review committees ask to see.

Can you design for a big lot?

Yes. Large Granite Bay lots are where a full 3D plan helps most: it shows how the patio, kitchen, walls, paths and planting connect before any phase is built, so you can build in stages without redoing work.
